The Vanasses of Ste Croix County
Simon Vanasse dit Bastien - Vertefueille was first married to Matilda Vanasse dit Precourt . After she died he immigrated to Wisconsin and married Alvina Germain in 1872 .
In the 1900 census Simon is living in Star Prairie Wisconsin while his son Adelard resides in Somerset .
The children of Simon and Alvina are as follows :
Josephine born 1874 .
Mary born 1876 .
Adelard born 1877 ; married Anne Germain on August 30 ,1898 at Ste Anne's in Somerset .They would have 12 children .

Edward born 1880 ;married to Marie Angele Parent on June 11 ,1901 at Ste Anne's in Somerset .
Mary Louise born 1888 ; married Ferdinand Breault on May 17 ,1904 at Ste Annes' in Somerset .
Rose born 1891 .
Agnes born 1893 .

THE VANASSES OF SPRING VALLEY , PIERCE COUNTY Pierre or Peter Vanasse (1837-1925 ) was the son of Jean Francois Regis Vanasse and Josette Messier . Peter was born in St Michel Yamaska Quebec . At the age of 16 he left home and went West .He went up the Ottawa River to Chichester Quebec where his two older brothers Joseph and Jean Olivier had established themselves .He stayed with them one year and decided to come down into Wisconsin .He worked in the logging camps as he came south until he found the Red Cedar River . He traded his shotgun for a boat and came down the river to Menomonie Wisconsin .There he got a job with a lumber company . A year later he moved further south to the Eau Galle River .There he worked for the Carson and Rand Sawmill for six years . Peter went on to buy a farm in Gilman Township Pierce County Wisconsin. In 1863 a new neighbor moved in . He was William Akers. Peter would marry his daughter Virginia on June 17 ,1866 .The new Virginia Vanasse would become the first school teacher in the town . Peter built a sawmill of his own . Peter and Virginia had 7 children : William Richard born 1867 married Lena Nordrum Mary Josephine born 1868 married Joseph Keller . George Napoleon born 1870 married Katherine McArdle . Thomas Horace born 1872 married Lola Jesmer . Luther Victor born 1875 married Mabel Richardson . John Leonard born 1878 married Leona Sargent . CASCO KEEWAUNEE COUNTY
Francois Vanasse dit Vertefeuille and Marguerite Regniere were married in 1851 at St Paulin de Maskinonge Quebec . In the 1870 and 1880 census they are found in the town of Casco with their family .
